How to untwist line?

Featured Replies

I have some line twist after todays session.  I’m thinking of cutting off rig and running line out, trailing behind my moving kayak?  Then crank it back in?     It won’t work on dry land will it?

It can work on dry land - but it's much easier on the water.

Yep, cut off the lure, trail the line behind you...about 1/2 again what your longest cast is...then reel it in while pinching it to keep it tight on the spool.

I can do that.  Thanks.

If you’re land bound tie off to a post with a swivel and pull the line tight several times. Not as effective as trolling out but better than nothing.

You can let a bunch out in your yard put it in a magazine or phone book and crank it back.  Coming through the book will get rid of most of the twist.

That's a good idea

I’m going to add this works great, but try to find an empty football/soccer field to do it in. I tied off to a speed limit sign at the end of my driveway and after reaching the end of the spool one of my neighbors wanted to pull into his garage? thankfully he’s really cool and parked in the street for awhile so I could finish what I started. BTW he’s not  even a fisherman ?
