River guys - do you typically try to cast everywhere or do you only target specific areas; ie current breaks, structure, shade etc?

...Chris Catignani and I found a bluff wall area on the Cumberland that had large schools of Shad. The bass were trapping the shad against the bluff wall and we were able to hook quite a few. After we drifted past the schools we would motor back up and drift again.

The key ingredient here was the shad...this same "trapping" process happens on points, shoals, ripraps. @Blue Raider Bob If you type an "@" you will get a userlist and you can reference that person like ^ above.

Back when I got into wading and stream smallmouth fishing, this was considered the Holy Grail for reading rivers.  I was able to get it from the library and copied the entire book.

This book will teach you how to read rivers and to identify highly productive spots.
