Recessed trolling motor pedals

Featured Replies

Anyone use these that can comment of their effectiveness. I have a foot injury that prevents me from being able to lift my foot at the ankle enough to operate the pedal without some hard work and i cant steady myself enough to use the other foot as i prefer to fish without a bicycle seat i think these could help also neone mounted one themselves and can recommend a good brand i.e. troll eze etc

Thanks

I have one called the Flatfoot.  I wish it had been there when I bought the boat.  It is much easier to run the boat with it installed.  What ever you buy, be sure it fits your foot control because there is a big difference in the size from brand of tmotors.

What, you dont like doing the Captain Morgan's pose for 10 hrs?   8-)

I've run a few boats that have them built in, and I love it.  As soon as my new MinnKota shows up, I'll be putting one in mine.

Have you considered a co pilot. I have had mine for 3 years and love it. I can be anywhere in the boat and control it from my rod. I have two remotes so if there is a second person in the boat we both can control it if we need to.

I didn't have one on my Lowe and have one on my Triton. I definitey prefer haveing the recess. Last summer I fished out of a boat without one and it now felt akward. Definitely easier to spend the day standing when your ankle/foot is flat instead of raised up. I think it's better when the water gets rough.

Only downside I see is if you lose your balance and get your foot caught in the recess. Will make you almost go over board.

My Ranger Z22 has a recessed foot pedal.  I'll never buy another boat without the feature.

I use a pro control tray by Polyfab.  There is no way I'd fish without one again.

I installed one in our Ranger .... it is awesome. I am a fat, old guy with back problems, but it has allowed me to stand up with no butt seat for 9 or so hours in a tournament. I believe it is safer also as you are standing flat footed and there is less sticking up to trip over on your deck. I have a Comfortroll.

Thanks for the info.  I just ordered a  tray from troleze.com for my tracker aluminum boat.

Bass crazy,

I have an '02 Tracker Pro Team 175 and have been wanting to install one on mine as well.  How difficult was the install?  Do you have a Motorguide or Minn Kota?  Thanks in advance.

I received the tray yesterday and installed it today. It was not dificult at all. It comes with a paper template to lay on the deck to make the cut out. on my boat there was a rod storage tube under the deck just about on center of the cut out. I had to cut down into the pvc tube about 1 inch deep to acomadate the depth of the tray. I think a rod will still slide into the tube ok. But will have to try that tommorrow.

Also there was a storage hole for sliding the stern light pole in to in the cut out area  also . So have to find a new storage location for the pole. Those 2 obstacles where not a great concern to me . I have a motorguide. The only thing about the troll eeze tray the woulkd be beteter to me is if the the angle in the front of the tray was not as steep it would be better with less bend on the contol cable being down in the hole. the contol moves freely enough .

I installed the troll eze last weekend and will be trying it out this weekend. From what I can tell I think I am going to like it. Like everyone says, cutting a hole in the deck was my biggest concern. Be prepared that depending on the make of your boat you may very well be cutting into your front storage compartment and your rod boxes. Thank goodness I had read that before and didn't totally freak out when it happened.

I put one in my boat and wont own another boat without one.  Its handy in big water, its alot easier to stand and weather the waves.

I installed the ComfortTroll in my '98 Triton and it's made it a whole lot easier on my back.  Very good to deal with.  Called to order and had the email verifying shipping within the hour.  Whichever one you get, you'll like it.

I installed a Troll Well this year and love it!! I had a lot less back and knee issues with this installed. I would highly recommend the Troll Well model, it is made of fiberglass and comes in many colors to match your boat or carpet, they even make one that glows in the dark if you do a lot of night fishing. Excellent product!! Check trollwell.com or Tackle Warehouse carries several colors.
