i think it should work.  pegged, and rigged up on a texas rig.  hook buried in the body to be weedless.  bass cant care if it is swiming canted right?  i have tried it but have yet to get a bite.  i think Fall season is my best shot.

i like how i can remove a worm and just thread on a swimbait and go.  is my logic flawed?

No, it works just fine. Just size the hook so it’s not hooked too far back and hurting the action.

Works fine. I use a bobber stop, not a peg-it. Dunno if it makes a difference or not.

I'll add ya one ?

Throw that same setup but without the weight & fish it like a Fluke.

Both work

I tried it, yes the belly weighted ones fish more true but they also catch tons more grass, take that into consideration

I prefer the weighted swimbait hooks because it keeps the weight lower, and allows a faster retrieve without having to worry about the swimbait spinning.  But I've done it before like you mentioned and it does work.  It's just a bit more finicky.  I tend to use the T-rig method for slow rolling in deeper water, because the weighted hooks aren't usually heavy enough to get the bait down deep and keep it down.

Reaction innovation skinny dippers are great texas rigged, I like to use a 5/0 heavy wire ewg and a 3/16th ounce bullet weight with braided line. Gets through heavy cover incredibly well.
