Is it ok?

I think it is ok, but it's not that difficult to do it yourself if you want to try.  Try this:  https://northforkcomposites.com/approved-rod-builders/

You can also do an internet search using terms like "Northeast USA fishing rod builders" or more specific to your state.

I figured I’d see if anyone here could help first.  Lots of good people on the site.

If you want to try it, I can walk you through it.  Make sure you want to do it, though.  I really like split grips, like the definitive feel of the butt knob.  Are you sure you want to do it.  Another approach is to just get another rod.  One can not have too many rods.  ?

Yea it’s the st croix legend X 8’8” heavy. I’ve been using as a pike rod & the exposed blank leaves bruises in the armpit and surrounding areas.  I don’t have the same issues with my musky setups which are full cork.

i have enough half finished projects I think this one is best to pay to have done.

if there’s a rod builder in central Mass who’s interested please PM me.

You can consider Alien Pros Tennis racket tape.

Amazon.com : ALIEN PROS Tennis Racket Grip Tape (6 Grips) - Precut and Dry Feel Tennis Grip - Tennis Overgrip Grip Tape Tennis Racket - Wrap Your Racquet for High Performance (6 Grips, Black) : Sports & Outdoors

The up side is that you could just remove it and your back to a split grip.

Like @MickD says...its an easy thing to replace. But being 8'8" its a beast to ship.

Personally I like full cork rear grips on casting rods because I cast with two hands. Spinning it does not matter because I only use one hand,
