Hit a small local river this morning and had a blast. Ended up catching 2 smallies, a small walleye, 3 nice sauger in the 16-18in range and the biggest saugeye I've ever caught. Probably pushing 26in. All the damage was done hopping a 4in white fluke on a ballhead.

26” saugeye geez that’s a monster

They actually grow big around here. Over the past 10 years I've caught several saugers and saugeye in the 24-26in class. Few big wall eyes to...a couple pushing 28 inches. Pretty big for tiny rivers and gravel pits.

Fluke on jig head has put many meals in my belly. Spinnerbait will starve a man to death

Only if you don't know how to use it!

P.S. don't feel bad I've lost my spinner bait mojo...can't catch sh#$ on them anymore

I just threw one for an hour no bites. Picked up a purple worm and missed a bite twice, caught a nice sauger on 3rd try. Which bait would you throw, starvation or white meat chunks?

A 26 inch sauger? You do realize that’s state record class in Iowa. The state record sauger is 6 pounds, 6 ounces. I’ve only ever seen one sauger over 20 inches here in MN.

To be fair the bigger ones may have been saugeye and I just didn't realize. I have seen several sauger around 24in which would put them around 5lbs. Beasts man.
