Jon Boat Tournaments

Featured Replies

I'm looking to compete in some tournaments next season in a jon boat. Obviously this rules out any tournaments requiring a co-angler, mainly because I can't imagine the disappointment when they're expecting to get into a real bass boat and here I turn up with a jon boat. That being said, what's the best way to find tournaments to enter with a jon boat?

Slay Nation was a growing outfit.  They were a decentralized group with regional tournaments around the country.  Fished one a couple years ago.  Not sure if they are still viable.

Also, if you have any HP restricted or electric lakes around, there's almost certain to be a club with jon boats holding tournaments.   I find that FB state and regional bass fishing pages are pretty useful.

Thanks. I fished in a Slay Nation kayak tournament this year, but unfortunately they don't have a small vessel series in my state. I'll definitely check FB groups.

If you have some small lakes around you, there's surely some clubs, and probably some opens. Lakes around me are 1K-2K acres. Most have low HP limits. They're all jon boat tournaments around here with the exception of two lakes.

Ask around on the forum part of TinBoats.net   they even have a aluminum fishing series section.

Nice bunch of people, I was on there when my wife got me a 15ft Polar Kraft, mod V  for Xmas one year, it was a basket case. They gave me a lot of tips on there.

TinBoats.net is an awesome website for anyone looking to restore an aluminum bass boat.  It's amazing what you can do with a little skill and ingenuity.   Well worth a look...
