Ok, that sounds good!! US made is better, but not a deal breaker tbh. Sounds like the victory line is pretty good, i will probably go with it

If you can find them used, I'd go for it. I got my 73HMF used (place I can't name...rules) and the 15 year transferable warranty did transfer...so I've got 13+ years of warranty on it. Paid $143 including tax, and it's pristine - can't find anything wrong with it.

The warranty still applies!? That was my worry that it wouldnt. I will keep an eye out!

Found a 7’3” st croix victory medium heavy fast action for 120 plus 10 shipping. Is that worth it???

"The Marshall" is a great all-around rod, can do a lot with it...since it retails for $200, I'd say go for it.

Also, is it possible that the rod can be used for both spinning reels and baitcast reels?

Nope - while you might be able to mount a spinning reel on it, the guides on a casting reel are much smaller at the reel end. Your spinning reel would have major issues trying to let line out properly.

Its either that or i buy a new one on black friday

Yeah its definitely a good deal, but only problem is its a baitcaster. Is it worth learning how to use a baitcaster? Also, could i just put a spinning reel on it anyways?

Another problem with the rod, its rated for 14-65 pounds, which ithink would be much too heavy for my application right?

Budget is tbd, but ideally i would consider 30-80. Any recommendations will be considered tho. I dont really have a percentage, i just switch it up based on what i feel will work. I mainly fish from the bank, but occasionally i go out on my kayak. Should be made for bank fishing tho. I also live in a dorm room, i can fit a 1 piece pole, but i get less stares in the hallways if i can split it in half and put it in my backpack.
i have looked at st croix rods and could possibly consider getting one, if they are worth it

Definitely worth considering, but my budget isnt too tight, i want something that is considered an upgrade so i wont have to do that in the near future. What did you end up upgrading to from that rod?

The rod and reel combo is a penn fierce 3 6,6” medium light xtra fast rod, the reel is 2000

So let’s recap this thread.

Your budget is $50-$80 2 piece rod.

Now you are looking at St Croix Victory 7’3” MF 1 piece rod?

We tend to call this being spoofed or strung along.

Well at first i thought my budget would be that, but i said it was tbd. I would consider all options and i kind of want something nicer so i dont end up having to upgrade down the line

Sorry for any confusion

No worries! It tends to happen on here. People post asking for rod or reel suggestions around a certain price point and by the time things are done, they are convinced they need one twice the price, or more!

Not uncommon to see posts saying " For a little more you can get this" then, "well for a little more you can get this". Next thing you know you're buying the most expensive rod or reel you've ever bought!! ??

And that's the absolute truth.  Poster says his budget is $100-$120 for a rod.  First reply suggests a $260 rod.  Personally don't understand why.  Better to buy three $90 rods.

EDIT:  Not referring to this post's OP.  Just an example.

Ark and 13 make some good budget rods and 13 has awesome customer service.  Even if the break is youre fault there is a good chance they will replace the rod for free.  With black friday coming up you can get at least 20% off of nearly any rod at TW.  The Ark rods go on sale around BF usually.  I dont know if you can get a additional 20% off of the sale price or not.

i have thought about it a bit more and i think my budget will top around 100. The daiwa arid x seems like a good option but what about the st croix triumph? I dont know any of these rods very well so if anyone has anything to say feel free

Just the main thing that i want is that it is sensitive so i feel bites, but it wont break on a bigger fish. This would ultimately be my all around lake rod, which would be bass, pickerel, and possibly carp too

Triumph is a good budget rod.

Key to not breaking a rod - 1) set the drag on your reel properly and 2) don't high-stick.

People have landed 40# brown trout on UL gear with 4# test line....it's a matter of patience and perseverance.

Keep an eye out for used ones. I got one for $143 including tax that had been a trade-in...and the warranty did transfer, so I've got 13+ years of warranty on it.
