...a monster bull red caught on artificial lures on light tackle!

I managed to get this beast to submit using a ML St Croix Avid Inshore paired with a Stradic 3000 w/ 15 lb braid and a 12 lb fluoro leader.  It ate a Z-man shrimp.  The measuring tape on the rod goes 30 inches, so this dude was 37-38 inches all day long.

Am I doing this right @bulldog1935?  Hehe...

The same lagoon gave up an 18-in trout and a 21-in flounder the day before.  I sure as heck would not have minded a ~76-in Lowcountry Inshore Grand Slam!

Nice! Bet that was a battle. My brother caught a 33” red almost by accident once on super light tackle. I had all the gear in my kayak and he had one jighead and paddle tail grub in his kayak . Of course he hooks up to a monster redfish and went for a “missouruh boat ride”

Thanks for the report and photos - congrats on the great catch.

My best on fly rod is 32", and have caught them to 38" in the surf on MH tackle.

You have a lot of good eats there.

If you took the skin off those fillets, next time try skin-on half-shell redfish fillets.

I was never interested in eating redfish in the TX slot until my buddy Josh showed how to grill-blacken half-shell fillets.
