Nako Formula D or SHIMANO SLX MGL

I’m in the market for a new reel this season and I received a gift certificate to Amazon for Christmas. I pretty much narrowed my choice to the Shimano when I came across the above mentioned Formula D. After looking into the reel it appears to be the same reel as the Okuma Hakai, a reel I’ve not heard much about since it first came out. Anyone care to comment on the durability/performance on their Hakai? The price difference isn’t much between the above mentioned but significantly less than the Hakai. Thanks in advance.8FB8D0A4-6ACF-4458-86DE-005E7B7F0C7A.jpeg.3fbc1a8713e73713d64b84bec8a04279.jpeg

That dream fishing tackle reel for sure.  I might have to get one that that price. It has a pretty good spool and if you like regular magnetic reels then this one looks legit.  I'd be all over one for a plastics reel.

I’m definitely leaning towards it, I’m hoping to hear about the long term use from the Okuma users. Not that it’s a deal breaker as one I’m not putting my gear through near the use as most on here and two as per your thread I like cheap gems and I’m hoping this can be one. I’m hoping this reel will be able to be setup such as @bulldog1935 has setup his Lews with the braid spool without having to swap it out. Although they offer a shallow spool I’m not looking for an 8 speed reel.

This is the "pimped-out" version of Hakai.  I don't own one, but here's a brief review:

I have a Hakai which I paid 142.00 for last year.  It is light, really light.  The start up of the Dream spool is extremely fast.  Once I adjusted the cast control the ability to throw 3/16-1/4 was pretty darn good. I don’t have enough time on the reel to address reliability issues. It’s a solid build and at the stated retail, should be a great value.
