I accidentally stripped the main drive shaft on a brand new Shimano Scorpion DC reel while changing out the handle. Unfortunately, Shimano Canada does not carry the replacement parts, nor do they service it. From what I understand the Curado DC Drive Shaft should fit, any ideas?

There are two ways, first, a little risky by try Curado DC as you mentioned from any perspective it should fit. Shimano doesn’t change physical much between Curado and Scorpion DC, same frame, same drag setup.
Second way is to order correct part from Plat Japan. This way you can be 100% sure it will fit.
Depends which way is cheaper and faster and how much you wanna risk, another reason why order JDM not always the best. I’m not sure about Canada but Shimano let you return if you order the wrong part.

Fellow Canadian. Shimano Canada is a dream to deal with, called them last year when I broke a frame screw. They shipped out a new one to me free of charge.

 

I would research if the north American DC will fit. I remember researching reels and a lot of the Japanese reels share the same parts as the American models, I think it was a YouTube video comparing scorpion bfs, slx bfs, and curado bfs, parts were interchangable. Mostly different paint jobs and sometimes different bearings (same size, maybe higher quality).

Just look at a Curado schematic and look for anything that’s an obvious red flag. I wouldn’t hesitate for a second to use a Curado part there. If this is more than you want to tackle let me know.

Just another note, Curado DC and 200 K use the same mainshaft. If you know someone that can let you borrow any of these two.

Curado drive shaft will fit. Very simple to swap drive shafts. You may may want to also consider a new nut cap or at least examine the one you have. Those threads are soft and easily damaged.
