SPRO BBZ-1 Trout Tail Replacement

Featured Replies

Well, I bought the replacement tail and fin set for a BBZ-1 Trout, but I can't seem to find any information about the type of adhesive used to glue the tail on. SPRO's website has been about as useful as a screen door on a submarine. Nothing on the packaging, nothing on the website for the product except how they will sell them to you. Nothing in their FAQ's. If the information is there, it's not very obvious how to find it.

I have removed the old tail and sanded the old adhesive off. It's hard to know for sure what type of adhesive was on there. At any rate I tried Super Glue Gel and it laughed at it. Felt like honey would have stuck better. I could try some regular Super Glue, but thought I would go ahead and ask here it anyone else has been successful (or unsuccessful) getting a new tail glued on to one of these?

Never had to replace one on my spro BBZ, but, I would think a dab of epoxy would work just fine.

What did SPRO say when you inquired? Brian.

I used Gorilla Super Glue on a similar bait and tail.    Caught several 5lb fish on the bait since, and thrown it a bunch, tail is still there.

I'd just glue it with super glue.

As a general rule, the cheaper the super glue, the better imho.    That cheap stuff at the dollar store is fantastic.   You want the stuff that dries super fast, the longer drying ones require more optimal drying conditions to get a good set on the glue.

Have you called Spro? I know that it's old school, but it works sometimes. I called Spro years ago about an issue I was having. They were very responsive and helpful.

Have tried contacting Bill Siemantel, he lives nearby.
