Anyone remember this lure from the 60's and 70's? I don"t think it was real popular, but my dad and I sure caught a lot of fish on them.  The spoon goes up like a chatterbait but it is fixed to the jighead rather than free swinging and the worm swims along horizontally, I visualized it as a leech imitation.

Darnit, I can't get the photo to upload, I'll have to get some kid to show me how to do it.

What we called a Lazy Ike didn't have a spoon on it. It was a boomerang shaped crankbait with a very wide wobble. I'll see if I can find a picture rather than going digging through old tackle boxes.

There’s a company called Wobblehead lures that might have a similar action as that Wiggly Jig. These used to be sold at Bass Pro, but I think you gotta order directly from the website now.

 

Thankfully, it looks like they’ve upgraded the hooks & design a little. The ones I bought 10+ yrs ago at Memphis Bass Pro have crummy hooks, but still catch fish. They work with any straight tail worm, like a trick or finesse worm. I’ve had good luck using a Zman finesse worm on the Wobblehead.

Lazy Ike made the other lure too .They also made the Natural Ike crankbait which I own a few .

Really?,... Didn't realize Lazy Ike was the manufacturer name. All this time I thought that was the lure name.

Bass Pro sells the Squirmin' Jig. You could probably set it up to mimic the Lazy Ike Wiggly Jig.

Thanks for all the responses, the wobble head lure sounds like an interesting lure. 

Does anyone remember using the original banana shaped lazy ike? I recall fishing as a little kid (5 or 6 years old) with my older brother. 3 times drifting past the same stump I caught a nice walleye, a nice crappie and a good sized bass on a perch colored lazy ike, I was rather proud of myself. I have not however touched one in years.

Yes!  Can't find them most anywhere on the internet but I just found 3 in my tackle box.  Caught my 1st big bass on that.  I loved these.

@bloom  Yes!  I was born and raised in Fort Dodge, Iowa where Lazy Ike was born.  They had a plant and my fishing buddys Mom worked there and would bring home sacks of "blems".  Us kids would put hooks on 'em and catch lots of fish!

In the 70's I started a Bass Club and we would have tournaments (pretty informal) and we had a kid show up and whoop us all with a Zebco rod and reel and a Lazy Ike!
