Any Pelican Bass Raider Owners Out There?

Featured Replies

I took my boat out yesterday evening for the firs. time since putting the rudder on it.  Wow - what a difference.  The boat never tried to spin - it was soooo much easier to control.

Dang. That is a slick rudder but I was really hoping to hear that it didn't make much of a difference. Lol I guess I will have to get my crap together and make a rudder.

UPDATE!!! SORRY EVERYONE but Photobucket wants me to spend 399 dollars to host my pictures...I just refuse to do that!  You can still check the pics out with this link: http://s709.photobucket.co

  • Picked up my bass raider 3 or 4 months ago and I absolutely love it.  I did a bunch of mods including a casting deck and the deck is rock solid.  It's 3x more stable on my deck than standing in some o

I think I have made some good improvements to my pelican.......holders for 6 rods...trolling motor...power pole micro anchor......small decking to hold battery box and 13 3700 Plano boxes.....anchor t

I want a rudder that can raise up if hitting something. That's how I'm gonna do it when i make one. With my motor there is no room left to clamp one though. Gotta figure that out...

I had been putting it off - because I am just not good at making stuff like that.  It really couldn't have been any easier.  If I can do it - anyone can.  It's just a matter of setting aside an hour in a day to make yourself do it.

here is my setup I had to move the battery box to the front because the rub rail was underwater while running the gas motor I usually fish by myself and without anyone in the front its really stern heavy let me know what you guys think.

idk if your still reading this post. just got my own pelican. been on my brothers alot. love these boats. can you tell me more about that Bigfoot switch?? also anyluck with tournaments with these boats? im really intested.

Good idea with the lights.  I need to order some like that for my BassHunter.

The big foot switch is just a momentary switch. Set your speed and hold it down to go then let off to stop. It has a plastic flip over bar that holds it down for long trolls.

Does anyone know where I can pick up a second seat frame for my Pelican 10E? I bought it used and it only had on seat. Pelican wants $65 for just the frame. Is there any place cheaper out there?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just seen one in a Bass Pro catalog. I'm not sure of the price, but I would guess 50% cheaper. Only the rails looked square.

For you folks that made a rudder for the your Raider, what dimensions did you find worked best for the flat part of the rudder?

Academysports.com sells em. Think there fairly cheap to! Seat brackets.

Just curious.. what sort of tackle boxes/bags does everyone use?

I have a Plano Guide Serios 1444 that I've had for several years.  I like it, but it just doesn't have enough space for all of my crankbaits, jigs, etc.  I'm considering going with two separate boxes/bags - one for hard baits and one for plastics.

How do you guys feel about the bigfoot switch? ive been reading up on them but not sue if its worth putting one on a 10e bass raider? Any thoughts? Thanks.

What makes it such a good addition to the boat? so that you arent leaning forward all the time? is it easy to install?

I try to keep my gear to a minimum and just use a backpack for all my gear which includes a couple of trays.

I have one and it is great for trolling or if you need to cut the motor fast while standing.

It keeps you from bending over all the time mainly. I steer with my knees.

I looked on there site Saturday and they said they were currently unavailable for online purchase. Talked to one of their reps and they said they couldn't help. So I looked again yesterday and they were available so I ordered one and a seat. So hopefully I will get them this week and be fishing this weekend. Thanks for all your suggestions.

Well Academy Sports shipped the seat, however they didn't ship the frame. I contacted them and they said the frame was on backorder and they're not sure when it will be in. Then she said that if it doesn't come in by the end of the week they will probably cancel the order. So now, I have to wait and see if they get one in, then if they don't I;; have to order one from somewhere else and pay more for it and lose a weekend fishing because of the wait.

I have wanted one of these boats for years. I couldn't pass it up when Academy had them on sale for $279. It had been a toss-up between a BR and a kayak but the wife liked the idea of the BR better for taking the kids on the water. So, here I am....part of the club. I have a trolling motor that I will use on it but have not got it registered yet. Apparently LA has some extra red tape when a boat is purchased out of state. Anyways, in the meantime I was thinking of useing a kayak paddle. I haven't tried it out yet but it seems feasible. Especially with a custom rudder, of which I have not made yet but soon will. Has anybody used a kayak paddle on theirs? How well does it work?

Hey Jakesnapper. My battery went out awhile back and so I just used the oar I had as my back up. It worked decently, but once the wind picked up it really sucked haha. I definitely would only use that method on a small pond, cause you'll oar your ass off and then realize you've only gone a few feet!

Jakesnapper, rowing these boats is the last thing you wanna do. They do not row well!

Well, that is not what I was hoping to hear but I guess I will try it anyways. Either way, it'll beat bank fishing in some small WMA ponds. Hey, mmrivera, you aren't 11B , are you? I went to basic with some guys that ended up at the Hood.

No, I'm an Engineer.

Has anyone seen one of these?
