Making long casts - New Video!

My Dobyns Fury 705CB (MH/MF) casts well with light lures and still has decent power to get fish out of cover. I’ve even found it to work very well casting weightless Texas rigs with decent-sized soft plastics like the Neko Macho or Fat IKA. They cast far and I’ve had no issue with positive hook sets.

A little rich coming from me, someone with 14 active setups, but that's because the industry is full of bleepity bleep bleep on what's actually necessary for bass fishing and certain techniques, yet we fall for their money game.  It's just amazing how our forefathers of bass fishing were able to catch anything at all when listening to modern talking points.

Caught all my 5 giant bass listed under my avatar on casts 40 yards using 7/16 oz hair jigs. Not exactly a light lure or line 10# 12# Mono.

The secret to making long cast with jigs & soft plastics is my reel & sweep hook set and extremely sharp hooks.

Strike detection is what takes time to perfect.

How do you sharpen your hooks @WRB?

Diamond hook hone. I got at Marriotts fly shop back in the 70’s.
