Wow! Not even full of eggs, but stuffed full of sockeye salmon. How does this thing even swim to catch its prey? What an insane catch. True monster. 

I saw a black & white photo of the 101 lb laker netted commercially up on Lake Athabaskan Canada. It had the same shape with the girth almost equal to the length. The conjecture was it was a non spawning fish spending all its energy feeding. A 40 lb lake trout is achievable on the right waters but not common. A 50lb laker is a true trophy by any standards.

And they released it. So this thing is gonna go back to gorging itself on 100 Kokanee per day and get even bigger. I’d love to know how thick the Kokanee are stacked for this trout to be able to stuff itself like that.

I wondered that too being how overly large the trout is. How it can even catch these swift swimming salmon on a regular basis is an oddity in itself.

the article said they believe the fish was from the initial stocking of the lake in 1966

That sounds right. Lake trout grow up north slowly gaining between one & one & a half pounds per year. 

His jacket is ruined by that giant slimer.
