If I had to sit in an ice fishing hut all winter to get a fix, I'd be a slobbering drunk, too.

The permanent shacks aka the ice castles are the ones that get sloppy drunk because they can just sleep out there.  Unfortunately those are the ones that also tend to leave a mess of trash, empty cans, human waste, etc behind when they leave too.

There used to be an annual Eelpout Festival on Leech Lake every winter.  Thousands of people would show up for it.  It was basically just a big party on the ice.  The city of Walker, MN stopped permitting it a few years ago because they were sick of cleaning up after it every year even though it generated a lot of local revenue.

I used to enjoy drinking while fishing and paddling and I always kept a flask in my bag.  I would get real mellow and relaxed and it was very pleasant.  But, I moved and now I have to drive to lakes, so it's not an option.  Fishing and paddling are still a lot of fun.

If the weather is mild I'll sometimes have one or two in my kayak cooler, helps me relax and enjoy the experience. I don't do it in the heat, and don't drink more than 2 ever. I'm also on a very calm lake with minimal boat traffic and always wearing a life jacket.

I never drink while fishing. It’s just plain stupid to do it on the susky.  The river is  down right dangerous on the best conditions. Most lakes here do not allow it because it’s some kind of park. I am usually on a major interstate to get home having any kind of alcohol in my system while towing a trailing it’s a recipe for disaster.

I do love drinking. I want to enjoy my buzz/drunk in my home watching tv and eating pizza. Sitting on my deck or porch is a great way to enjoy it too. There is to many responsibilities  for me to enjoy drinking while fishing.

Not while I’m on the water. Motorized kayak means a DUI if you’re over the limit here. I’ve not been checked but it only takes once. Plus all of the other reasons about one making me tired afterwards. I can wait until I’m home.

sitting in the surf?  I only do it with a cooler full. Mostly that’s just sitting on the beach with a buddy drinking beer and occasionally doing some casting practice.
