Looking for heavy spinning rods and need help with companies who make them ..I know dobyns make a heavy power sierra..I have a heavy tfo professional...any help would be appreciated

Look at inshore rods if you want a heavier spinning rod 

Will be for 3/8oz jigs and t-rigs mainly 

One of the reasons I started building my own rods is so I could build myself a stout spinning rod and not have a handle that's 4-6 inches too long like many salt water rods.

 

Can spec it exactly how I want and make sure it's exactly what I need. Going custom just makes the most sense.

Try finding a short MH spinning rod.

 

I was looking for a MH worm rod a while back to replace a Cherrywood that broke. I prefer a shorter rod for bank fishing.

 

I didn’t expect that to be hard to find, but for example, Tackle Warehouse has nothing in 6’. At 6’-6” they have 9 choices. But go up to 7’ and they have 31 choices. If you go shopping around, it’s hard to find a MH spinning rod in stock, period.

 

Stores stock what most people buy. I get that, but it would be nice to have someplace to turn. I eventually bought a 7' M.

Thats an idea to go full custom..what blanks would be good to start ?

The problem is:  What does "heavy" mean?  The use of the term varies with the blank maker and the suggested application, so it's tough to recommend a "heavy" because I don't know how you define it and I don't know how the makers define it.  My best shot comes from thinking that a CCS power ERN over about 27  would be considered by most as "heavy."  Go to this site and find blanks with an ERN greater than 27.  Click on the tab at the bottom "CCS data base." Then look for blanks with ERN greater than about 27.  

The original G Loomis 6'8" E6X 803S MH has been my favorite all around stick when Smallie fishing the GMR here in SW Ohio.

It throws any bait and has great sensitivity. 

I pair it with a Stradic FL 3000.

I'm definitely a St Croix fan boy but I love my Loomis

For example SC Mojo Inshore spinning rods, go by lure weight/ line size; MF=HF fresh water.

I just picked up a Scheels Outfitter Pro Classic 6'-6" medium heavy spinning rod for $79. Line weight 8-15lbs, 3/16 - 5/8 oz lures. Pretty stiff. I like very much. 

As a dedicated spin rod fisher, my go to is a Hurricane Red Bone MH. I hear Star makes some good ones too. These are considered inshore rods and that would be the direction I’d be looking.
