Where to fish around Raleigh?

Featured Replies

I'll be taking a trip down to see an old buddy who moved to the Raleigh area.  He wants to hit up some fishing while I'm down there.  If anyone from the Raleigh area knows any places where we can bank fish.  We won't have access to a kayak or boat.  I'm also going to have to look into getting an out of state fishing license.

Get your license online before you go. Most states sell a 1 day, week or season license.

NC license is easy to get online, and you can get a short duration as Dwight said. I don't know any small places in that area as I'm further west, but you can probably find a place to rent a kayak or Jon boat as that is very common down here, especially in city lakes.

Check to see if NC has a site like this: Places to Fish - NYS Dept. of Environmental Conservation

Here's an example of a lake outline including whether or not there's shore access or a ramp.

There's bank access and some really great spots on Jordan Lake.
