Hall of fame linebacker Dick Butkus died today. He was one of the very best linebackers to ever play in the NFL. A true classic defensive players that all offense players feared. May he RIP.

Yes, I was in fear watching him as a kid.

RIP...... legend.

The Bears are on a epic losing streak, and right now they are up 27-3 on the Commanders......hard not to think he's up in Heaven pulling some strings.

 

RIP Mr Butkus.   They make em like him anymore.  

butkus is the perfect name for a linebacker.  i guess like nitschke.  lots of consonants.

I was shocked when I heard 

He’s been my favorite player since he was drafted in ‘’65. 
 

He’s the standard by which all Middle Linebackers are judge by.

I like many others didn’t hear the news until the game was being played. Although I was but a child when Butkus was a player I’ve seen enough film of him to realize that most of the great linebackers that played for the Bears (and we’ve had our fair share of greats) realized Butkus set a standard of how the position should be played.
