ike8120 Posted October 7, 2023 Posted October 7, 2023 I just got a small handgun safe that holds 2 guns. Is it recommened to put in it any moisture absorbing packs? Quote
VolFan Posted October 7, 2023 Posted October 7, 2023 It couldn’t hurt but if it’s inside in the a/c it’s probably not necessary. I wouldn’t have them anywhere they touch the firearms. 1 Quote
Woody B Posted October 7, 2023 Posted October 7, 2023 The correct answer will probably depend on the climate where you live. If it's "comfortable" inside your house your firearms should be OK. I open my safes once a week to keep the air inside fresh. My house is dry enough I have to run a humidifier most of the time for my guitars. Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted October 7, 2023 Super User Posted October 7, 2023 They sell little heater rods you plug in and have them in the safe usually there’s a spot in the safe to run the wire. I’ve got them one in my safes in the man cave I don’t go into often like my pistol safe I go into every day. I keep the moisture packs in my ammo cans though 1 Quote
JackstrawIII Posted October 8, 2023 Posted October 8, 2023 Most pistol safes are not even close to being air tight. Meaning: don’t worry about it. 2 Quote
Super User slonezp Posted November 16, 2023 Super User Posted November 16, 2023 Clean and oil the guns. If you live in a humid climate throw some silica packs in there. Personally, I think keeping the ammo in a cool dry place is more important than the firearm. 1 Quote
