Gun Safe Question

Featured Replies

I just got a small handgun safe that holds 2 guns. Is it recommened to put in it any moisture absorbing packs?

It couldn’t hurt but if it’s inside in the a/c it’s probably not necessary. I wouldn’t have them anywhere they touch the firearms.

The correct answer will probably depend on the climate where you live.   If it's "comfortable" inside your house your firearms should be OK.  I open my safes once a week to keep the air inside fresh.

My house is dry enough I have to run a humidifier most of the time for my guitars.

They sell little heater rods you plug in and have them in the safe usually there’s a spot in the safe to run the wire. I’ve got them one in my safes in the man cave I don’t go into often like my pistol safe I go into every day. I keep the moisture packs in my ammo cans though

Most pistol safes are not even close to being air tight.

Meaning: don’t worry about it.

Clean and oil the guns. If you live in a humid climate throw some silica packs in there.

Personally, I think keeping the ammo in a cool dry place is more important than the firearm.
