Curado 70 handle

Featured Replies

Good morning,

I was just wondering if the Tranx 200 or 300 handle will fit the Curado 70? I love the reel but never was a fan of the small handle they have on it. If anyone has any info on compatible handles please share. Thanks

Tranx 300 handle has 8 x 5 mm shaft slot, which matches Daiwa/Abu, Curado 70 is 7 x 4 mm.

You can buy an inexpensive spacer shim that will let it fit.

There are also many aftermarket handles made for Shimano with the 7 x 4 mm slot.

I don't think a 300 handle will fit but the 200 should. Most Shimano XG handle Assembly 90MM or 96MM should fit. Just make sure to buy the handle nut plate.

Cool, so I will need a 4x7 shim to fit the 8x5 handle to make up for the extra room that the tranx handle has...can you please tell me where to order this exact shim? Thanks

I would search Handle Spacer Daiwa to Shimano on ebay.

Same on Express website.

So the original nut plate the Curado 70 has will not work with the Tranx 200 handle? I was wondering also if the curado 200k larger handle will work on the Curado 70...they are both Curado after all from similar time period

If you have the Curado 70i then the original handle nut plate (plastic nut cover) will not fit the Tranx 200 handle. Curado 200k handle should fit with no problem but you have to buy the handle nut plate. Tranx 200 and Curado 200k, Curado 70 MGL, SLX and many more shares the same nut plate cover.

Does this really works?? I love my zillions but will pay anything for them to have the large shimano knobs and handles.

If you bought them directly from Shimano and the part numbers are:

BNT6057 Handle Assembly

BNT5641 Handle nut plate

Then you should be good to go.

Below is my SLX DC XT with 18 Bantam XG 90 MM Handle assembly.

I'm pretty sure BNT5643 is just the handle assembly and does not come with the nut, screw and plastic retainer.

BNT5642 = nut

BNT5641 = plastic retainer (nut plate)

BNT5558 = screw

BNT5643 = handle assembly (Curado 200k)

BNT6057 = handle assembly (Tranx 200)

Lol BNT6057 is the handle assembly, earlier you said 5643 was the handle assembly.  I think you just mixed yourself up is all.  BNT5643 for my purchase includes the nut, screw, and plastic nut retainer. Apparently that is a package deal. The seller included all 3 parts for $16. Not sure if that is a good deal but oh well

Apparently yeah lol just need to do your research and make sure the handle you want will fit the reel you want to use it for and the nut retaining plate piece will work for the handle. Sometimes it's hard to find the handle to start with...and you might not be able to buy all of your parts from the same source. Me for instance I had to buy my handle from one seller and the retainer piece from another source unfortunately

I only buy parts directly from Shimano's website and use their schematics and part numbers to find
the parts I need so my input and experience are based on just that. with that being said, I'm very much confident that all the replies and inputs I've posted on this topic are in fact accurate, for example, BNT5643 on Shimano's website/schematic is a handle assembly for Curado 200k just like I said on my previous post. it sounds like your seller for whatever reason described the parts you just bought as BNT5643 that includes the nut, screw and plastic nut retainer which is not very accurate since those little parts have their own respective parts numbers, just look at the schematic screenshot for the Curado 200k I've posted earlier, so no I don't think I mixed myself up on this one, just saying.

BNT6057 is simply replaced by new part number 10E8U and are in stock at Shimano's website. They're transitioning to new part numbers for some reason so older part numbers we are used to will show as discontinued but the new assigned/replacement part numbers are typically in stock or backordered.

So it's actually better to type and search for the old part numbers to see what's the new parts are being called just like below.

Yes he sold the 3 parts to me as a "kit" under the BNT5643 part number. But I'm aware the individual pieces have their own respective part number. He sold them to me for $16 but even if I got ripped off I'm not upset because I need that stuff anyway.

Do you think it's odd for a seller to give me all 3 parts as a package instead of selling these parts individually? I don't buy reel parts often enough to know if that would be considered unusual

Those 3 parts would've cost you just $6.16 directly from Shimano but it would not qualify for free ground shipping since it's under $35.

I don't think it's odd for a seller to sell all 3 as a bundle, I would do the same since they all came off of the same reel or handle. I would just keep them for extra parts but that just me.

Oh OK, so I guess I can look at it as 6 dollars for the parts and 10 dollars for shipping/tax I guess. Not a big deal. Says the parts will be here Monday can't wait to put it together

Yeah it's not all too bad, it would look really cool when you're done with it I'm sure, upload pics for us to see. all my Shimano reels that came with 84MM handle are immediately replaced with 90MM handle, it's just the size I'm so used to. I know I could just get XG reels that already come with a longer handle but I'm just not into high-speed reels for some reason.

I think the tranx handle I'm installing is over 100mm lol but I still don't think it's overkill for the curado 70 I'm using it for

I bought a couple of the adapters, I guess i can take apart one of the Curados and check if they fit and what parts I need to purchase from Shimano. If this works it will make a huge difference for be because I really dislike the knobs on my Daiwas even using Winn grips
