This wasn't a stand alone post. It was posted to another thread but moved here.

I was just curious why SEVIIN spinning reels arent listed on St Croixs own site.

According to the DNS information it's the same outfit. Both hosted at Shopify

Sorry I meant to add text.  Just submitted it by accident.  LoL.

it’s a legit st croix site.    Didn’t realize they have Seviin spinning reels as well.   Don’t follow too closely.  I see the casting reel on there though.

Seviin has their own site - the spinning reels are available there.

https://seviinreels.com/

No @zell_pop1, building a new plant - ANYWHERE - to make a couple of reel models is not feasible, regardless of whatever brand name you want to badmouth. Maybe years down the road when they're making dozens of products it might make sense, but not when you're just starting.

Even then, MANY well-established brands follow this same business model, even the ones with large product lines. So please, bash them all for it. Knock yourself out.

And yes, it is their designs and tooling. Don't want to believe it? That's your prerogative.

No jobs were "lost". SEVIIN is a new product line. There weren't any SEVIIN jobs prior to their existence. Ergo, new jobs were created with the new brand, including new jobs in the U.S. but I'm sure you'll find a way to bash that too.

Yep, we get it. You despise St. Croix and SEVIIN. You've made that abundantly clear. And you're dead-set on that. Message heard and received. Just be sure to group all the major rod-and-reel brands in your hatred because they are all following these practices to one degree or another.

Thanks

Hey @Glenn if you would actually read my posts you would have seen that I both said the Seviin reels are probably decent and I hope they do ok as a site sponsor. All I said was why don't they just expand the facility they already have as that makes good business sense. I never claimed they should make brand new factories or that anyone lost jobs, only that I know how outsourcing works when your posts treat myself and others like 12 yr Olds. Nor do I despise St Croix, I have 5 of their rods they are great and their customer service is good. Do I think Seviin reels are just a new name on an OEM reel? Yes.

Except that both the facility in Mexico and the one in Park Falls are designed to make rods. Setting a reel manufacturing facility would be time/money spent - reducing profits. While there are manufacturers in Asia already making reels and capable of creating new tooling to a brand's specifics in a short time.

You'd be shocked at how many US Brand reels are actually made in China/South Korea/Malaysia.

No I wouldn't be, I own 20 bc and spinning reels, it's not my point at all.
