Spinning reel 2000 series

I run 8# InvizX on a Miravel 2500 - I think a 2000 size could handle 6# without issues....don't forget the KVD

I believe all 2000s are a super shallow spool which hold less line than a 1000 size. I use a Nasci 2000 for trout and it holds about 100m of 3lb Varivas line. Depending on what you're throwing, you'll likely dump the spool with 4lb or higher. I wouldn't go smaller than 2500 personally.

^ Ya - I just looked at the Miravel 2000 - specs say it hold 80m of GOU 1.0 ...which is 87yds of 4# test

Go with the 2500

I’ve already got the reel and currently run 8 pound braid for ned rigs. I was thinking of switching the reel to a short rod for finesse jerks. I have only used fluorocarbon line once and thought about trying it again but may have use a different feel

If you use .008-.009 diameter FC and TangleFree or KVD or both the line should behave OK. Spinning reels twist line so you need to untwist it at the end of the outing by running the line behind the boat without anything tied on.

I used 7 lb Sniper for years on a Stradic 1000 reel.

Tom

I have the same reel ( Shimano Vanford 2000) and use it with mono for trout. I like this reel a lot. I have put fluoro on it and it worked well with no more than 6 pound test of the softest fluoro and a lot of care when casting and retreiving.  Fluoro does not do well when the temperature is cold so that is why I use mono in spring and fall

I’ve had it for about a year and it’s a fun little reel. It’s currently on a Expride light and is very impressive. It actually handled a 40”ish musky for me earlier in the year

Vanquish C2000S, F6 spool, 6-lb Toray X-thread Fluoro, works great.

I have PE#0.6 on the stock spool.

I have a second spool for my Vanford 2000 filled with 5# Sniper for crappie fishing.  I might would go to 6# but that's about as high as I'd go on that size reel.
