Super User Darth-Baiter Posted November 19, 2023 Super User Share Posted November 19, 2023 I use the med sized YakAttack box. 13x16. I have three rods on the 16" sides for a total of 6. usually enough. I am toying with trying some Kayak Tournaments, next year. (maybe). figured I need to get 8 on board. so on the short side, I had a problem. the box lids opens in that direction, and the hinges poke out maybe 5/8 inch. I got to thinking. SPACERS! it works. anyone needing more rods, this is a good workaround. I used 1" spacers and 2" stainless screws. BOOM. 6

Super User MassYak85 Posted November 23, 2023 Super User Share Posted November 23, 2023 I've got an Ascened FS-10 sit-in. It comes with 2 molded in rod holders. But I've modified an old milk crate that I bolted a piece of that PVC board onto, and then attached PVC pipe rod holders to. I can fit 5 rods on that board (6 if I forego a net), for a total of 7 or 8 rods. It's way overkill for such a tiny kayak but definitely turns some eyes at the ramp haha. Wish I could upload a photo but it's way over the size limit.
Super User Boomstick Posted December 23, 2023 Super User Share Posted December 23, 2023 Perfect! I got the Blackpak Pro 13x16 with the same 6 rod setup. I’m good with the 6 rods because the Old Town has two rod holders in the back but this is nice to know in case I need more
RLinNH
I have just recently started looking into these boxes. I like the H Crate as I do run a Hobie, but that large YakAttack box may be the one I pull the trigger on. I would love to have the rods behind me vs. being at my feet and in the way all the time. Not to mention the bait storage in these boxes...
Smirak
I’ve got a 16x16. I’ve got 4 on one side and 2 angled on the other. I have a hard time with my 7’-10” swimbait rod standing up. I can’t remember, but I think I can stand 7 3700 sized boxes in there standing up. Leaves about 5 inches of “headroom”. I believe I can fit a couple of 3600s there. I can’t remember.
