What is your favorite grip

Featured Replies

That guy who sells multi-colored camo eva round stock on Facebook had some last I needed some, I got purposely small ID ones and ream to fit as he doesn't appear to have every size available, they have been out of general stock for some time, I have 4 one gallon Ziplock bags stuffed full so I think I'm ok. He threw in some Pac Bay Minima triggers also that I will rarely use.

Grips are the issue I have with so many of todays rods. They have these crazy cool looking reel seats that are completely uncomfortable to fish with. For me I need full cork rear grips for casting because I usually cast with two hands and a split grip just feels weird. Spinning I split my fingers above and below where the reel attaches so it needs to be comfortable. A VSS cork or Fuji skeleton seat with a cork insert in-between feels the best.

I like synthetic burl (rubberised) cork. It's light, durable and is easy to glue and turn.

I agree the VSS is a winner but have you looked at the AmTack aero palm swell spinning seat? Love them too.

I use it all the time, like it for its durability and beauty.  But it actually weighs 1 1/2-2 times as much as natural cork.  On my spins I only use 7 1/2 inch rings and 4 1/8 thick rings.  For baitcast I like carbon fiber and that is significantly lighter than burl cork.
