Expride Heavy Rods (7’6H 7’6XXH 7’7H)

Featured Replies

I was going to buy a second 7’3XH to use a pitching/flipping rod as I always have a frog tied on the other. Then, I saw this video about some of the other models. I’m generally considering 1/2 to 1.25 oz of tungsten with the 1.25 having very limited use. I also like the possibility of verticality of being able to throw a six inch magdraft on them. Does anybody have experience with these models and or throwing the harnessed mag draft on the 7’3xh?

6” magdraft I’d throw on the 7’7H before I’d throw it on the 7’6XH. But that completely flips when I fish a freestyle. I usually use the heaviest beast hook so that I can bounce it through the cover and I love the power to get that hook stuck from any distance.

You have both 7’6 XH & 7’7 H?

Yes

7’7 heavy rod would be more suited towards the rigged magdraft, although it would probably handle the freestyle just fine too.

I also use this rod for smaller glides (1-2 oz) and light flipping with straight 50 lb braid.

I have the 7’6” XH Expride and I use it for soft Swimbaits with an owner beast hook on braid to 30lb flouro shock leader. The comments were spot on you can use it for the treble Magdrafts but the heavy would be a better choice and the XH for single beast hooks to drive the hook through the plastic. I also use the XH for my small glide and Swimbaits under 3oz’s and find that it works great with the mod fast action. This is probably my favorite rod that I own and use it for flipping and punching heavy cover too. Absolutely love my Exprides and had all double footed guides put on it instead of the single footed guides

Do you know what it weighs?

Not sure you would have to check with Shimano but it’s really well balanced and pretty lightweight for a 7’6xh

Have you ever frogged with the 7’6 XH?
