New or DIY ringed hooks

Featured Replies

Are there any other ringed hooks besides the gammy EWG, VMC reg & hd versions ? Would love a twisted point ichikawa muscle or owner haymaker. Thoughts on making your own with a split ring ?

I thought about picking up some of the ringed Gammy EWG's, but I much prefer the G-lock gammy ewg's for the wider gap and better hook point angle/height in relation to the hook eye.  I plan on making my own ringed hooks using the g-lock, just haven't got around to it.  With a ringed hook, I'm thinking a swinghead is a bobber stopper away :unibrow:

I use owner hooks that are ringed but that is in the Gulf of Mexico when I go fish the rigs.. as far as light freshwater applications, I wouldn’t know for sure. You could check with Owners website.

Would you be just using a split ring? I don’t understand the swing head comment

Yes...just a split ring.  Can't see how it wouldn't behave like a  hinged head if you pegged the sinker.
