Crankbait rod?

Featured Replies

Hi Again,

Now that I know my 844 is not a crankbait rod, let me ask this.

In loomis spinning rods which would be a good crackbait rod?

I have a sjr782, and a smr882 would any of these?

Any suggestions would be apprec.

Thanks

Paul

ps i am not as stupid as these questions sound, just really confused.

well forget loomis ... 1st ,, 2nd look at croix  they have the answer  ;)

I don't own any loomis rods and never see my self owning one. I have no issuses agianst them but its hard to find loomis rods around here. But I would think any spinning rod with a slow tip will work. I own many st. croixs and there awsome rods. I own there perimer crank rod and love it. The only problem i have with it is that it seems a little to soft for casting. I seems like when ever I put on a bigger bait like a 1/2-5/8oz bait the rod is going to break on the cast.

You have to take into consideration where he fishes also.  ;)

Don't kid yourself   The SJR 782 will work for Cranks and be fairly good rod for them.  The SJR 782 can be used for fishing minnow baits like the Long-A and Repala.      The 782 is a very versatile spinning rod

Try having a spinning rod made on a St. Croix premier crankbait rod blank? All my crankbait rods are Premiers and they work great.

I also can't see cranking with spinning gear as my ideal set  nor Gloomis ( They don't have anyone in their crankbait series ).

I have the SJR 782 IMX and is a great rod, I don't see why not to be use for shallow/light cranks, it is not fit for med/deep cranking so. I think 6.6 is a good size for the purpose.

There is not such a thing as " stupid question ". specially in fishing.

I prefer using casting gear for most crankbait fishing, however I also have an SJR782 that I use for tossing Minnow baits and Shad Raps. It's just a joy to use with these baits.
