When deciding what few lures to keep after collecting for over 6 decades to occasionally back seat bass fishing my choices was based on high catch rates.

I love to catch bass on my jigs so they are the highest quality of lures but they are not the most productive per man hour fished.

Hard baits kept are wooden Sammie, Buck n Brawl, Micheal pooper, LC 98 pointers, custom Bomber 7A’s, Zoner Hunter, Megabass crankbait, a few structure spoons, buzz bait, spinnerbait, swimjigs.

Soft plastics; Roboworms, custom Shad worms, Reapers, Screamers, Flick Shake 4.8, Uptoms, Senko’s.

I take these with me every outing and can’t decide what to use until on the water.

Has to be topwater. Popper or a walking bait.

You get to work the bait and then the topwater explosion NEVER gets old.

The lure I referred to is no longer available. The X100 is very close.

Jig hands down. Finesse, full size, swim jig I don’t care. A jig is my favorite the methodical working of the bottom and that thump or watching the line move. Gahhh I love it.

topwater I love a choppo or a popper. Love the explosions. And love when they hit a dead stopped popper

I'm not experienced enough to pick one, but I go through phases.  Right now it's blade baits.  I'm bank fishing most of the time and they cast a country mile.  Yo-yoing them back to the bank is a nice way to search for fish.

Before blade baits I was on an extended underspin jag.  They're as likely to catch a bass as a walleye and big trout like them too.

My favorite always has been the crankbait.  From tiny size shallow running squares bills to magnum deep divers.  Sometime the bass don’t bite the crankbaits and there place where other lures work better but they are the most fun to me.
