Looking for a new spinning rod, I already have a couple of medium lights and want a medium to round it off.

 

For both rods, I was looking at a 6’6 Medium Fast, and they are rated pretty similarly for each rod, so I was wondering if anyone could chime in with their personal thoughts between the two rods. i’m leaning towards the Tatula because of how much I’ve heard about it, but I want some more info. I can’t feel the Tatula in person without ordering it because there is no where near me that has it.

I’m gonna be fishing shakeyheads, jigs, smaller spinnerbaits, smaller crankbaits, and use it as an all around rod for stuff like that. I will be pairing it with Daiwa Exceler LT, if that helps anyone.

 

Both are good rods.  I have the Expride from Daiwa and have had many SC Premiers.  The biggest difference to me is that the Tatula is made in China and only has a one year warranty.  The SC Premier is made in Park Falls, WI by Americans and has a five year warranty.  Sensitivity wise I would say there pretty equal.  Component wise I would give the edge to SC along with fit and finish but I am an admitted SC fanboy. 

I have owned both. I kept the St. Croix. 

The Tatula blank is great. I personally use a lot of Tatula casting rods, but I got rid of all my Tatula spinning rods because of the grip and handle length. To me, they just didn't balance well at all. 

 

Almost all of my spinning rods are St. Croix Premier. The balance is incredible and their power makes them very versatile.

both winners! Daiwa might be a little more powerful than the SC. SC will have better cork. Daiwa may have the better blank. 

The Tatula has the better blank, guide train and sensitivity.  Balance is good with both and weight is similar.  I much prefer the Daiwa actions and ergonomics.  

I know nothing about the Tatula.  I do own 4 Premier rods.  Two of them get used every time I go.

I'd get Tatula over Premier all day.  Now if it were Victory's vs Tatula I'd get the Victory's all day.  But if it were the AGS version I'd get the AGS version over the Victorys all day.  Now If it were the LTB I'd get the LTB over the AGS all day.  Lol
