Daiwa Steez 2500 Spinning Reel

Featured Replies

Does anybody have one, I was thinking about getting one, but haven't seen any reviews, any info appreciated

Welcome aboard.

That is one fine reel but I personally will not spend $500 on a reel. Well, that is because I can't afford to but if I could I guess I would. LOL

Welcome aboard!

Sorry, I cant't help. I fish Shimano.

I bet the Steez is a fine reel, but I'm pretty happy with the Stella 2500FB. If you looked at the Stella, was there something you didn't like?

I have a Stella also, same model as yours, I love it

When I put it on my GLX, it felt kind of heavy, I thought it felt more balanced on my IMX

PS Nice Smallies how much did those two weigh?

I have two. One on a St.Croix Legend Elite ES70MF, my soft plastics rig. The other is on my main smallmouth combination, G.Loomis GLX PR844S.

The fat smallmouth in the avatar was just over 7 lbs, the other fish was nearly 4" longer, but only weighed another pound.

Back on topic, did you look at the Steez? I bet they match up pretty closely.

Congrats on those smallies, we don't see them that big in the North, LOL

I just looked at both reels as well.  To be honest The Steez looks and feels great, but the Stella is a proven design.

I bought the Stella.  If you already have a Stella, then by all means give the Steez a shot.  It would be great to hear a review on it when you've had some time to use it a bit!

RW .. What's your opinion of the Sustain? I have 2 Symetres but have been looking at a Sustain to mount on an 6'-6" MH IMX.

I have been saving my nickels and dimes and will be getting the steez 2500 to match with my Loomis BSR852 GLX.  I'll have it before going to the fork, so I'll be the first kid on my block with one.

I'm going with the steez over the stella primarily because it's a whole ounce lighter with the same line capacity.  The newness of the design is a non issue for me.  Daiwa has been making quality reels for years, so I'm satisfied that they know what they are  doing.

I'm also partial to Daiwa baitcasters.  I like the way they "feel"  very subjective, but I just feel that the high end Daiwa's are more communicative than similar Shimano's.

I think when you get to this price point, your dealing with finely tuned machinery.  it's all about what feels best to you.

SCarter,

The Sustain makes no sense to me. I think the Stradic is a fine reel and a much better value.

Also, be sure to read the tackletour article within the thread. This is a review that speaks for me.

After reading the link and then putting my paws all over the reels and mounting on a specific rod (G Loomis IMX SJR782) I took your thoughts and got a Stradic ST2500FH. And decided since it felt so good, why not get the rod also. Then I saw a 6'0 Team All Star spinning reel there for 39.99 and thought that would be a good rod for skipping Senkos or Flukes under docks and low hanging limb. So I walked out with the IMX / Stradic and the All Star / Sahara. BAD MONKEY
