is there much of a difference between medium heavy and medium power in spinning rods? lookin at the shimano compre.

go with the mh version

u ll have more backbone for solid hoosets and generally a stronger rod

good for t-rigs ,spinnerbaits .

My spinning rods are Medium or Medium Light Power.

I would have to no.  It is personal preference.   What is it going to be used for????

There is a time for both but, I have to say that I use the MH 90% or the time simply because it feels better to me in my hands and I think you get a better hook set if are long casting or fishing deep water. I think this falls into the personnel preference catagorie.

Good thread Mike.  I was wondering the same thing.  Not to hijack the thread but I was comparing two rods at Gander Mtn:  a 6'6" MH and a 7' M (both were Gander Mtn. rods).  The Med. was thicker at the base but yet the power was listed as M.  The base on the MH was actually smaller.

So, which rod is actually the more sturdy of the two?  A Med. with a thicker base or a M.H. with a smaller base.

Spinning rods are not like trigger or casting rods, a higher rating doesn 't mean the blank will behave like a trigger of the same rating, for example, a Compre MH spinning will behave like a Compre M trigger rod.

 I have a Shimano Symetre 2500 mounted on an older Quantum rod that is way to light and have been wondering what to go to.

i would be using my rod (i am leaning towards MH for various things) probably mostly fat ikas however. I just love that bait.
