Tried and true, or something new(?)

I try stuff when the stuff that I know works isn’t working. My mantra is ‘If it ain’t broke, don’t break it.’

I like to try something new to me if I know through the grapevine it’s working. On my own prefer trying old like rediscovered Screamers and Reapers.

Hard to put a % value maybe 95-5% on my own incentive, partner kicking my butt I change in a heart beat.

I'm all over the place which can lead to success or downfall depending upon the day. I carry a few boxes of tried and true baits and I will start with those, but I also bring baits based upon the specific lake forage and season.

This year has been much different from any other year for me in that between the couple of tournaments I fished and fishing on my own I have fished about 14 different bodies of water since the spring.

Why? Two reasons. The first being for a little adventure and not get stuck in a rut. The second is between using maps, observation, and FFS I'm trying to get better at breaking down lakes more quickly. It's funny, because I live on a lake and although I make a few casts off my back yard almost daily, I have not had my kayak in that lake since May.

I'm pretty much tried and true. I think the last new thing I tried was a Biffle Hard Head swing jig with a Gene Larew Biffle Bug - and it does work.

But I quit chasing new baits and techniques years ago.

Tried and true mainly but there is that rare occasion where a particular bait that I'd deem " tried and true " completely shuts down, dead, nothing.

This forces me to try and replicate it's past production with something else.
