Diawa Tierra spinning reel

Got mine around Christmas.  I matched the 2000 size with a 6'9" ML St Croix Avid X-fast rod.

It's only been out once for a day of inshore fishing for seatrout and redfish off Jax, FL.  So far, so good.  Handled the trout with ease, and the one feisty redfish I hooked was a lot of fun.

It should really be a good reel since it took the place of the now discontinued Capricorn equivalent in the Daiwa line to Shimano 's Stradic. It does come with waterproof drag.

It's spelled DAIWA not DIAWA.

It 's spelled SpaNISH bass not Spain bass. ::o

No need to be rude if someone doesn 't type properly.

didn't know this was an english lesson

Exactly Bassgirl, besides, we all understood what you were talking about.  :o

Didn't mean to be rude! Daiwa makes some of the best reels in the world and doesn't deserve to be spelled wrong! Just kidding. Is this bassresource or datingresource??? LOL.

My apologies to bassergirl.

Raul, todos tenemos fallos!

I have been looking into picking up some new gear this year and attempt to tackle the tournament world. It's funny, but I find myself in aww with the advances, and relatively cheap prices for some of the equipment offered (the tierra reel being one of them).

After reading all of the reviews i could possibly find, and comparing a ton of reels for price vs. quality, i think i decided to give the tierra a try. I don't have a lot to spend, but for all of it's attributes, it definitely looks worth way more than it's price.

I hope to pick it up in a few weeks when the Olathe, Ks BPS opens.  ;D

afendrbass,

Welcome aboard!

I'm sure that's a great real, but it's being compared to the Shimano Stradic. Compare the two for yourself before making the decision on which to purchase. We have lots of Daiwa fans on the Forum and Raul is a wealth of information, particularly when it comes to comparative specifications. I'm just suggesting you look at both reels. The Stradic has been around for quite awhile and has developed a loyal following with a reputation of dependability and longevity.
