Has anyone had success using spinners or spinner baits with camo brown stainless steel wire? I know they suggest camo brown SS wire for saltwater use but I’m not sure why.
Looking to make some trout spinners for this winter and next spring and was curious if camo Brown SS wire might be better in Clearwater than bright SS wire for trout. Thoughts?

Used it on home made a-rigs, and use it on a few as a buffer between the tie and the wires(keeps from wrapping up on wire arms or kinking the mono or fc and have no issues using it.

The brownish wire is called super stainless and I have made 1000 spinnerbaits using it.  The wire is tempered so it is stronger per given diameter than other wire.  Mark Mercer at Mustang Wire makes the super stainless wire forms. To buy direct from him there's a 1 to 10k minimum depending if it's a stock item.  Otherwise Lurepartsonline sells the wire forms from Mustang Wire. If you just need a couple spinnerbait frames to try I can send you a couple to try. I have. 032,.035, and. 040 frames.

Yes, it's all I use cause I have a bunch of it from salt water fishing. I just use a jewelry round nose pliers from the craft store, and it only takes about 3-5 minutes to make each one. I hardly ever fish store bought inline spinners without a little tweek or two.

I remember, one year I bought some spinnerbait heads made from this kind of wire from Lurepartsonline. And like it was said, even if it was .035, I think, the wire seemed thinner for the same resistance.  The spinnerbaits worked fine and I still have some from that batch that dates back 8 or 10 years.

All the LPO spinnerbaits I have ever seen with this wire are .035.

Its all i use. It resists deformation very well and I use thinner wire because of this. .031 is my go to for 1/4 to 1/2. 3/4 baits can use .031 but due to the big blades i like to use .035 just because the vibration is so much and the drag will cause the wire to callapse more than i like
