Anyone use Shimano Calcutta ?

Was just wondering if anyone uses the Shimano Calcutta for bass.  I have the the 700, 300TE and the 250.  I use the 700 and 300 for snook fishing. I never had a need for many Bass reels so I always used the 250 until i just recently bought a bass boat. So of course I had to stock up on bass reels.  I now have Curado, Diawa Zillion and Sol as well as Phlueger Supreme.  These reels fit my hand much better than the Calcutta and are alot lighter.  The Calcutta is hard to part with but I want another Curado, I can't buy it unless I sell my Calcutta.  I don't know where i'm going with this thread cause it's late and I'm tired.  I guess I'm trying to justify to myself that Calcuttas arent practical for bass fishing so I'll sell it but I having hard time to part with it.

I have a couple Calcutta's, including the 50 and the limited edition 250 that came in the anodized finish, packed in a cigar box.  Cool looking reel.

I honestly don't use either that much.

I've sold a bunch of Calcutta's. As far as round reels go, they are very, very nice and I'd have to think about fishing them if I was going to go back to rounds, especially the 100 series.  The 50 series, 100 series would be perfect for bass fishing as would the 200 for larger baits and longer range casting.  I think it's more a matter that round reels have just fallen out of favor with bass fishermen over the years.

I have two CTE200GT (5.0:1). One is matched with a G.Loomis GLX MBR844C, my main heavy jig and striper rod. The other is saddled on a Lamiglas SR705R, my glass rod for big, heavy treble hook lures and deep divers. These are outstanding reels which I HIGHLY recommend for heavy duty work.

I have a standard 400 for big swimbaits and a TE200DC for cranking. Fine reels!

Thanks for the input.  IMO these reels are very strong and durable.  If it weren't for them being round and not fit in my hand as well as the low profile ones then I'D probaly have 5 more.  I believe I will keep mine and use it for heavy flipping.

I've used the calcutta 251 for bass and snook for years. I've never had a problem with using it so keep fishing with it.
