Soft plastics ranging from 6 grams - 15 grams.

I believe you'll need to approach your casting stroke in a new way. These small diameter spool reels, lighter whippier rods, and braid require a certain touch. It's easy to overpower the cast. It takes time and reps to feel a given bait load the rod and for you to calibrate the amount of energy to put into the cast and your release point. It's not quite like typical low profile setups. Similar in some ways yet quite different.

Start with less lure drop from the tip than usual and release a tad earlier than usual if you're doing and overhead cast. All nice and smooth until you self calibrate.

Silver Wolf spool diameter = 34 mm. same as Steez A, and spools interchange.

Nor are beastfinesse rods whippy. BFS does not equal UL.

I assumed 2earlye was using this:

Daiwa 26 Silver Wolf CT SV TW PE Special, 2026- PE braid special version Steez CT, now in stock!

Availability: In stock

Silver Wolf CT SV TW PE Special is the diversified version of Steez CT to be used better with thin braided lines of from #0.4 to #1.0. Modifications are mainly at spool and level winder. 30mm dia SS SV PE Special spool is optimized to cast with thin PE braid lines for wide range of rigs from very light 1/8oz to regular 1/2oz.

The usdm ones I own or have tried are whether rated ML or L.

My stock SV Boost 1000S PE Special spool from Silver Wolf makes the rounds.

It's my PE#1.2 back-up for my gang of 34-mm Daiwas, Steez, Zillion(s) and Ryoga(s).

Here's Silver Wolf stock spool on SLPW-Z, which is based on '22 HD

I like it enough, snagged a second for full-time #1.5 on my '26 Ryoga 100.

I also enjoy the silver wolf with the sv boost pe spool. I have mine spooled with varivas 1.2 to a 12 lb leader and have used it for weightless plastics so far.

@2earlye I'd play around with lure distance from the rod tip, lengthen the distance between tip and lure up until *just before you notice it begins to affect your release timing. It should smooth out startup jerkiness a bit especially with a fast action rod, avoiding straight overhead casting helps too.

Interesting. I never imagined distance between tip and lure would matter that much, but it does make sense. I'll have to try this weekend. Thanks for the tip!

I would also like to add that when I snapped my wrist to hard on a cast I did backlash the reel twice. But at the same time it was very forgiving when skipping weightless plastics. So it is probably something to do with casting form.
