The front section of my lawn escaped the brunt of the storm damage.  So that bit got the spring treatment of weed & feed.

After replacing several of the sprinkle heads (Run over by tree removal vehicles) and filling in the ruts they made,

it's starting to show signs of it's old self.

Yesterday was the first cut.  Sharp mower blades are essential.

I don’t often get ‘surprised’ by much. However, this one certainly falls directly into that category. First, a brief backstory. For the past, I guess, couple of years anyway, I have been on the lookou

After what seemed like forever, #hiatus

I'm planning on being back on the water again tomorrow morning.

Switching gears by targeting some green bass and fishing out of the Old Town Canoe.

The best part is, it looks like my wife will be able to join me.

Excepting a cloudy NW breeze with on/off showers in the morning.

We'll be ready for whatever.

I'm hoping the fish will be chewing a least a little and if I'm very lucky,

I could be very busy net man for her the whole time.

Here are on the road.

Destination Lake Minichuck.

Target species ~ Green Bass.

On scene weather - a little drier than expected, at least for now

with seasonably cool air temps and highly desirable cloud cover.

This place is shallow with clear water and an obscured sky really helps the bite.

we're going all in with Swim jigs, Wiggle wagons, Shpinnah-baits and some soft plastic.

Here we go !

This first week of June will keep us busy with a full slate of mostly routine medical appointments.

But before any of that happens, tomorrow we're going fishing.

Another Canoe trip and I'll be a plus 1.

Always a good time.

Packing the gear & making some food now.

Forecast is looking sunny, clear and Hot !

Sweet.

Great to see you getting fishing time with the wife.

Forecast for this week is hot here as well. High 80s and lots of sun. Should be able to get a lot of fishing time. Hitting a lake close to home tomorrow morning. It has good fish but is my least favorite kind of lake to fish. No structure, no hard cover, sloppy mats of weeds. I hope it’s too early to have to punch. Weedless frogs should be in play though.

Lake Minichuck is calling our name again.

Be doing a Saturday morning event.

We'll see how that goes.

On the road again ~

Cool now but if the Canadian Wild Fire Smoke isn't too bad,

and it has been the past few days, we might see some sun.

I'd be fine with just breathing normally at this point.

Hey Canada, how about you keep your smoke to yourselves ?

Ya, that's the ticket.

Here we go !

Been real hazy here as well. Not as smoky as it was in 2023 but you can definitely see the haze in the air. Smells like a barbecue.

Thursday I had a conference call with a vendor we use and they’re out of Alberta. I asked him the same question. 😁

Get that net warmed up, you’re in for a busy day!

Plan on hitting local Lake Menderchuck at first light tomorrow morning.

Been a minute since the Pro-V Bass was under my feet and on the water.

Big moon will be setting soon after I make my first cast.

Hope the local brown bass population cooperates a little.

Fish Hard

Just hitched up the Lund to the truck.

Taking my time this morning as I have more of it.

The goby-less Local Lake Menderchuck produces decent and somewhat smaller brown bass. But man, a 10 minute total round trip time is certainly a welcome change.  Still, need to be on and just as important off the water before the circus wakes up.

Seems flat calm, the Pop MAax might make it's first appearance of the year.

Sha-weet !

Good luck!

My truck is in the shop so no boat for me. Gonna hit the river bank shortly. Maybe some stripers are still up in this part of the river.

As a rabid weather watcher, forever seeking 'the perfect conditions'

(at least in my mind) if there was ever one of those

for green bass in June on Lake Minichuck,

Tomorrow morning might just be it.

Looks Primo.

Either way, Lynn and I plan on making some casts and we'll see how it goes.

Fishing is totally on the back burner for at least the next 4-5 weeks.

I'm living ground hog day.

Wake up, do yard work, Sleep and repeat.

Try to sneak a workout in when I can.

But honestly moving dirt is all I need for now.

Long way to go and this is a least a two year evolution.

Can only do so much at once or in a day.

And Lynn has been simply Amazing !
