A senko rigged wacky style on a finesse hook.

Giving you listed your located in Florida, I’d say a wacky or Texas Rigged stick worm would be a good place to start. A weighted Texas rig with some kind of plastic is a little more difficult but it’s worth learning given how much vegetation you’ll likely be dealing with. A bladed jig is another good option that is easy to use and should work well in your area.

Excellent recommendation for Florida. It’s a very versatile bait. Swimming it along the top, or Texas rigged in a traditional fashion. Plus they’re American made and are priced very well..

Buzzbaits and 'plopper' style lures require zero technique and definitely get the fish's attention.

Yes Sir!

The Magnum is my #1, hands down, absolute favorite bait in all 3 water columns with different rigging and tweaks.

There are many days I don’t pickup anything else because I didn’t need anything else and it’s been that way for years.

A 4.5 - 6" curly tail worm with a 3/16 bullet weight T - Rigged would be a fine starting point. A weightless Wacky for a beginner is gonna deep hook alot of fish. IMHO

This. A zoom ultravibe speed worm Texas rigged with a 3/16oz or 1/4oz tungsten weight is super easy to use and also extremely effective. Just cast and use a slow but steady retrieve. It will come through grass easily and bass love it.

P.S. Make sure you rig it tail down. This way:

I use those and they’re awesome baits,

I know everyone is recommending plastics, which makes sense for Florida, but a Squarebill is tough to beat for beginners.  Easy to use, generally forgiving.  I'd consider that option alongside a plastic of some sort, though, plastics can be a bit much for beginners, sometimes can turn them off.  They require a certain amount of patience and confidence.  Let us know what works.
