Finally Made It to Fork – New PB and Some Tips to Share! 04/11/25-04/12/25

I finally had the chance to make it down to Lake Fork this past weekend, and man—it did not disappoint! Like a lot of you, I’ve spent time scrolling through forums trying to gameplan, so I figured I’d return the favor and share what I saw and learned... plus brag a little about my new personal best!

This trip was for a tournament on Saturday. After a lot of map study, I decided to focus on Little Caney Creek. Overall, the fishing was solid, especially if you were patient. There were plenty of buck bass on beds, but the water was pretty stained, so having a good pair of polarized glasses was absolutely essential.

Now, I’ll be the first to admit that bed fishing isn’t really my thing, and apparently it’s a lot of people’s thing... because I’ve never seen that many boats in one area doing the exact same thing. Easily 50+ boats targeting bedding fish. It was wild.

That said, I had better luck fishing the outside edges of the grass with a frog and a swim jig. The real highlight was landing a Giant (pic below!) on a Booyah Toadrunner—easily my new PB and a bite I’ll never forget.

If I were headed back, I might choose a different area just to avoid the crowd, but Little Caney definitely held fish and seemed to have a bit less traffic than some of the more popular creeks. I also went ahead and marked some of the spots where I saw the most beds for future reference.

Fork was an awesome experience overall. Just be ready for serious fishing pressure and some of the most educated bass you’ll ever cast at. Hope this helps someone out!
