Time for a serious tackle cull.

I sold a bunch of tackle at a yard sale. I wish i had some of those baits back. Now I'm afraid to unload lures. I did give a cousins son two grocery bags stuffed full of soft plastics .

Last time I did a big cull the wife posted some stuff on some Facebook page she's a part of for people to give things away for free. Next day I see a post in a different Facebook page for local bass fishing from a guy who just caught his PB on a pack of plastics some nice lady gave him for free the day before. They were my old SK Senkos I didn't have confidence in that he caught a 6+ with. I haven't given away a bait since.

Buying tackle is addictive, I've got rods and reels yet to be fished with new lures and plastics still in the boxes and bags. I have over 20 rod and reel setups from baitcasting to spinning and I'm one guy. I doubt I will ever use half of it in my lifetime but my kids and grandkids are set up with some good stuff. My wife fishes with a Zebco 33 and a Walmart pistol grip rod that's all she wants and uses and usually has more success than I do lol, she fishes minnows and nightcrawlers while I'm flinging and swinging everything in both my tackle bags

I just bought hooks an hour ago.  came home to put them away, only to find I have a very similar (and arguably better) hook in the exact same configuration.  I got back into my truck and returned the new purchase.   trouble starts for me if i cannot remember current inventory.  no thanks!!    I dont poop gold bars.  and I do hope to retire one day soon.

I used the BR Flea Market to sell most of fishing tackle in 2020 after my passed away. Separate lures into groups so the shipping cost is reasonable at bargain prices. Rods are more difficult to ship unless you kept the shipping tubes.

You will be making BR members happy and I felt good about sharing my stuff to anglers I knew would enjoy the tackle.

I do the same thing, ill buy hooks or soft plastic baits only to find out i have several of the same sizes and colors from a dozen differant companies, goes for string and braid also. I sit around practicing tieing knots until i get them down

My Brother started a non profit to help get kids fishing. He gets LOADS of tackle donations.

Might be something in your area worth investigating.

I seldom donate MY fishing tackle, but I am always on the lookout for cheap but usable stuff at yard sales and flea markets. When I find some, I clean it up, service it and when I have several decent outfits, I donate them to a local place (The Racker Center) that works with kids and adults that have special needs (both physical and mental). Over the years I have prob. donated over 100 set ups. It has cost me very little money, and it makes me feel good. Selfish I suppose that I do it because it makes me feel good, but still, it helps out the kids and that is great. I also volunteer to take some of the kids fishing a couple of times a year. Again, I do that more for myself than for them.....I wish I had had someone to do that for me when I was a kid. I also carry a couple of cheap but usable outfits with me most of the time when I am fishing so that if I see a kid who wants to fish or who is trying to fish with a really crappy set up I can just give them a usable one and maybe give them some tips on how to use it. It would be great if more anglers did this. The fact your brother started a non-profit to do this is absolutely fantastic. I hope he can continue to do it and bring some joy to kids. Good on him for it.

I have an obsession with 90's era hardbaits.  I have cash in hand if you would like to offload some of them.  Let me help you get out of your situation.
