Time for a serious tackle cull.

Right now I can barely get around my basement and cannot make any lures in the garage because of space. There is fishing stuff everywhere to the point that even the most dedicated tackle hoarder would say it's ridiculous. Started going through stuff today to get rid of as there is no way I will ever use half of this stuff in my lifetime. Between lures and tackle making stuff I plan on getting rid of a truck bed full to make some room.

Coordinates? I have an 8' x 16' dump trailer.😁

Local high school bass clubs are a great place to give away tackle.

I have 8’x20’ dump trailer. Not sure if it’ll all fit in the 8’x16’! 🤣

I have some idea of what you're describing,

but it sounds like you may be next level from where I'm at.

Not sure how long it's going to take to complete,

but do you think we could get some before & after pics.

Might help inspire me to get with the program myself.

Pretty sure I need it too.

I had a fire that destroyed pretty much all the fishing gear I owned 3 years ago(Including my boat and tackle passed down from my father.) I am just now getting back to comfortable levels of gear.

If you go through with this diabolical plan, remember there will come a day when the bass wont bite any lure, except for one of the ones you so carelessly hauled away.  Then you can sit in your boat next to a skunk, and the Bait Monkey thinking how wonderful it is to have more room in your basement.  It's fishing gear, you bought it, you need it end of story.

Started doing some inventorying yesterday. So far I have: 11 66 quart tubs full of lures, 108 Plano boxes, 5 tackle bags, and 9 unfished rod blanks. This is just what I found in the basement as I also have stuff in the garage, dining room, SUV, and boat. Did I also mention I have 3 boats as well? This is really out of control at this point. My fishing buddies bring their wives and girlfriends over when they get crap about how much stuff they have, They do this to show that the problem could be much worse.

Oh Allen!  At such a compulsion for collecting your tackle, I can only surmise you were withheld from your mother's teat at far too young of age.

Grew up poor wishing I could afford all the nice bass gear I saw as a teenager. As an adult my career field pays really well so now I can afford whatever bass gear I want so I went overboard.

is that 1,166 quart tubs?   🤪

I don't really see a problem. He with the most toys wins! Just do like I do, move the stuff around so it looks different. 😉

I'm done buying tackle other than items that get one time use.  Fishing line, hooks, sinkers, plastics, etc that's all I buy now.  Hardbaits, nope.  Rods, reels, nope.  Only when something breaks on that front.

It comes down to will power.

I think we are starting to form a news 12 step program.  I think you found rock bottom of the bait monkey addiction.

I will continue to convince myself I don’t have a problem, and it’s really all necessary.

I’m accepting donations. 😁

Just saying.

Sort through it all and keep the rarest/best of the lot. Donate whats not worth much and sell the rest. Maybe do some bulk bundle sales through online platforms of the stuff you wont use or don't need so much of. I'm in a similar situation with items from other hobbies that took a back seat once the monkey had gotten its grip on my back.

It’s clearly a form of mental illness.  I went to a therapist about it. He asked me to bring an itemized list of everything.  After he reviewed the ream of paper he flatly stated it was too late to help me.

Having a stockpile of tackle keeps me from buying more tackle 🤷‍♂️

My Brother started a non profit to help get kids fishing. He gets LOADS of tackle donations.

Might be something in your area worth investigating.

Wish I could say the same

I sold a bunch of tackle at a yard sale. I wish i had some of those baits back. Now I'm afraid to unload lures. I did give a cousins son two grocery bags stuffed full of soft plastics .
