  1. I do the same thing, ill buy hooks or soft plastic baits only to find out i have several of the same sizes and colors from a dozen differant companies, goes for string and braid also. I sit around practicing tieing knots until i get them down
  2. Buying tackle is addictive, I've got rods and reels yet to be fished with new lures and plastics still in the boxes and bags. I have over 20 rod and reel setups from baitcasting to spinning and I'm one guy. I doubt I will ever use half of it in my lifetime but my kids and grandkids are set up with some good stuff. My wife fishes with a Zebco 33 and a Walmart pistol grip rod that's all she wants and uses and usually has more success than I do lol, she fishes minnows and nightcrawlers while I'm flinging and swinging everything in both my tackle bags I guess its all in the way that you use it
  3. Im 61 years old, worked out in the oilfields here in Texas all my life on Drilling Rigs, cant work anymore due to my health. I sure cant take the heat like I used to could either.
  4. I own a Levante Enforcer with an Abu MGX 3000 spinning reel mounted on it, makes for a nice set up plus you get a Megabass Rod sleeve with it
  5. Man you cleaned up didnt you. I like Mike Iaconelli. What top water bait were you throwing, ive never caught one on top water myself
  6. Most of my night time fishing here in Texas consisted of setting a trot line before dark and then coming back in the morning to run it, take catfish off of it if you caught some, rebait it and reset it, go Bass fishing the rest of the day and run it again before it gets dark and start all over in the morning. I never really liked being out on the water at night, especially if I'm on a lake I've never fished before
  7. Where I live hear in the Texas Panhandle we have had multiple days of record setting heat, well above triple digit heat for the last 6 days. Maybe it will end next week according to the weatherman but then its still going to be in the high 90`s. It's been to hot to fish or do anything unless it gets done in the morning or late in the evening when it starts to cool off. My home lake is 65 miles from my house, so fishing in the morning until around dinner is possible but then it gets hot so you have to get off the water. If you came just for the day you would have to find a place to hang out until it cooled off. I never did like to fish at night but that might be something to consider. On the news at dinner time today the weather showed it to be 110 degrees on my home lake today.
  8. Sniper is good line. I was wondering about Gamma has anyone used it, ive never tried it myself
  9. They don't make them anymore but Ive got a Lews Team Gold, Lews Pro Z , Lews Super Duty , Lews Super Duty Wide, Lews BB2 HZ , Lews Mach Crush. They don't make the Team Gold or Pro Z no more, but aside from the high end reels look at the Super Duty or a little more money the BB1 Pro. But its you and your money get what you can afford look at 13 fishing also and Daiwa
  10. I bought a Zillion SV TW 21 out of Japan a couple of weeks ago, that's the most ( high end ) reel I own. The price was good the condition of the reel was almost brand new. I'm thinking about a Bantam or a Metanium next but don't know what year model of both of them is best. You can get them out of Japan cheap right now on eBay and some with free shipping
  11. i like all my reels which consist of Lews, Shimano, and Daiwa. But I ordered a Daiwa Zillion SV TW from Japan and its a totally differant reel from the rest of them. I put it on a cheap Lightening rod with 12 lb line just to cast out in the street after i got it and it can bomb a 1/4 oz weight a long ways, plus its way smooth and dont weigh nothing. Now i have to buy a decent rod to put it on, you dont want to put a reel like that on a crappy Walmart rod lol I forgot I've got a 13 fishing original Concept C on a 13 Crankenstein rod that set up is not to bad, The reel is smooth when cranking and it casts a long ways and the rod isn't to bad either
  12. cool, I've been checking those sites out also. All the stuff I've been looking at looks to be in great shape for a good price, and some reels you cant get in the states. I was just like a kid in a candy store lol
  13. Ive been eyeballing the Zillion reels also. I'm not a real fan of any one brand I've got Lews, Daiwas, 13 Fishing, and Shimano reels. I'm a tackle junky man I spend all my money on fishing gear and God knows I don't need nothing when I order something. Makes my wife mad because I try to buy stuff I really cant afford but Im an addict, shes happy with a Zebco 33, but when I bought my first Shimano Bantam 100 in the 80`s that I still have and still works, I was bit by the bug
  14. Thank you guys looks like im going to go shopping for a new reel.
  15. thanks alot I've never ordered anything from overseas all of my stuff usually comes from tackle warehouse but those Japan prices look real good
  16. Thank you Texas Flood that's where I've been shopping at
  17. Thank you for the help. Also I was wondering about which reel to get a Shimano Bantam mgl or a Metanium mgl
  18. Im new to the site and have a question. I live in Texas and was wondering if any one has ordered a fishing reel from Japan? I was wondering if US Customs charged anything to get it in the country and how much that might be. Any information would greatly be appreciated, Thank you have a nice day
