Bottom Contact: Poison Adrena vs Tatula Elite AGS

Featured Replies

Have you used either of these rod?

Have you used both and found one to be the better choice?

Or are you deciding based on construction and components?

My understanding is that either option would be an upgrade from the Megabass Levante Braillist.

I'm going to buy two bottom contact rods, new. One will be a MH/F casting rod, and the other a M/F spinning rod.

If you don't mind, please share your thoughts on what led to your decision and how the rod performed for you.

Thanks.

I have no idea about Tatula Elite Rods, But I have Pison Adrena and I am not sure if  it can get more sensitive than that, So for your application I highly recommend Poison Adrene.

I only have the PA in a spinning rod. I'm probably in the minority but I don't think it's any more sensitive than a Zodias. It's a great build and great action but that's about it for me.

I have the tatula AGS in the Ehler model. I personally  would choose it over the Adrena.

Thanks for the input, fellas.

Someone suggested pairing the Poison Adrena with the M/F finesse spinning (drop shot) setup and the Tatula Elite AGS with the MH/F casting, jig and worm rod. Interesting idea... definetly worth considering if others back it.

My initial thought was the opposite. Wouldn't the AGS guides have a greater impact on the spinning rod? Line vibrations transmit more directly into the blank and my hand, and spinning rods generally tend to have more guide-to-blank contact, making sensitivity gains from AGS guides more pronounced. Additionally, the blank is more advanced than in the Adrena (they used a high-density carbon fiber matrix with nano resin technology, SVF Nanoplus, which "results in a blank that is exceptionally light, crisp, and sensitive", attributes that are crucial for finesse fishing. The X45 Bias Wrap further eliminates blank twist, ensuring that even the subtlest vibrations are directly transmitted.

By that logic, the Poison Adrena might actually be the better fit for the casting rod, where guide sensitivity plays a smaller role.

Then again, for a casting rod, the 7'3" MH/F Tatula Elite AGS is a proven, versatile workhorse.

I wish I had more feedback on this because in the  end, it's the real world oerformance that ultimately matters. If the Tatula Elite FEELS more sensitive than the Poison Adrena, then why even consider the Adrena for single-hook, bottom-contact applications... unless the main argument is just that one simply thought the Tatula Elite is fugly?

At this point, I'm leaning toward first continue to determine which of the two rods offers better sensitivity and letting that guide my choices instead. What do you guys think?"

Only you can determine which rod, reel, line combo feels right. It’s a touch feel decision.

Overall weight, balance, action to power ( how the rod load up to cast the lures you use) all comes into play
