Dobyns Store brand rods?

Featured Replies

I just saw Sportsman Warehouse has a store branded rod made by Dobyns. So now we have the Frenzy rods for Dick's and a Sportsman Warehouse branded rod made by Dobyns. What is going on with GSM/Dobyns?? I would be shocked if these two new lines of rods are being manufactured at any pre GSM facility that Gary used.

GSM outdoors is a public traded company owned by platinum equity. As such, nothing with stop them from less quality for the consumer to drive an already abysmal stock. They will remove the Dobyns quality piece by piece without you even noticing.

Dobyns rods were never manufactured here. They are OEM by JS company in korea. GSM probably ordered retail store branded rods from them.

Dang. I’m just hearing this now. I truly hope the quality doesn’t decline. In my opinion they make the best balanced baitcasting rods that I have ever used.

Manufacturers have been doing it for years.  Dicks had a Revo on an all star rod combo a long while ago.  Dicks also had a Capricorn reel from diawa before that.  We're talking super bulk orders with good margins.
