Finesse Underspins

Featured Replies

I went out this past Saturday and I used the Great Lakes Finesse Sneaky Underspin for the first time.  I was shocked that it caught several chunky smallies while I didn't get anything on an Okashira Screwhead/Sparkshad which has been my #1 smallie finesse swimbait for the last couple years.  Those Sneaky underspins are kinda pricey at $7 a pop.  What other underspins are you guys using for smallies?  I have the Gammy Underspins which are a little bigger than the Sneaky Underspin and the Great Lakes Finesse plastic is too small.  What plastic are you putting on your underspins for smallies?  Any info is appreciated.

I fish the VMC underspins with Zakos a LOT, but rarely catch smallmouth with them. I'm targeting lmb with the underspins, but frequently catch smallmouth while using other lures like poppers and walking baits for lmb.

3 lures I used growing up. A beetle spin, a roostertail, and a Blakemore Roadrunner. I found some road runners a while back that were striper sized(Redfish love them). I've caught a few bass on them(Underspins). Hawg Farmer makes a real good one.

I've used the Coolbaits down-under, but I think it's the same price.

MidwayUsa has northland tackle smeltinator underspins on sale right now.  I like them a lot.  I find a heavy weight // small hook to be most useful on my water and it's hard to beat a 1/2oz 1/0 w/ a 3" armor shad or mooch minnow at certain times of the year.  I like the dirty jigs version as well, but northland seems to have the most weight/hook/color options and find their way on sale more frequently.  These are light wire hooks, and reel sets are definitely my best bet.
