anti-seasick tips?

Featured Replies

Its weird but I used the anti seasick bands that are little cuffs of elastic with a white ball that are supposed to go just below your wrists. I've always been good until I did a few offshore fishing charters with my uncle and was miserable on the first one. Second one I had those bands and was fine all day and as a test I took them off on the ride home and got horribly sick. Third charter I kept them on the whole time with no issue. YMMV

I’m going guess @Darth-Baiter you’re probably fishing outta Bodega Bay on one of the party boats.  Given all the great advice and solutions previously mentioned, I’d suggest you not fishing off the stern as diesel exhaust and someone prone to getting seasick are a bad combination. Fish up off the bow where there’s always fresh air or next to the wheelhouse where you can talk to the captain and even monitor the boats electronics. I hope it’s an uneventful trip, other than full sacks of fish all around and maybe some Dungeness crab if they are able to set the pots.

What’s your friend’s name? I don’t get seasick, but I like “brownies”.

Yes indeed, both Berkeley and Emeryville have good party boat fleets. I haven’t been salmon fishing out of there in years due to the state closures.

I have tried all the fuffu hocus pocus stuff and none of it has ever worked for me and cost me $1000's on failed fishing trips where I spent the whole trip on the floor covered in ginger snaps, my wrist badly bruised from the amount of times I pressed my bracelet button and half conscious because of the Dramamine.

The only thing that works for me...is the ear patch. When I put on the ear patch I go stand out on the bow and throw my hands up as the waves throw the ship around and I am perfectly fine!
