Bearing upgrade for 24’ Vanford

Featured Replies

Hi, I am looking to upgrade the latest 24’ Shimano Vanfords to ceramic bearing.

If anyone has done this and has the full list of the bearings & bushing that can be replaced or even better specific bearing dimensions that would be greatly appreciated.

THANKS!

If you contact HPR Bearings and tell him what you're after, he can put a quote together - either through ebay contact or through his website.

Boca Bearings could do the same - you'll find his price higher with an argument that his bearings have better pedigree.

Shimano typically shows bearing dimensions on their schematics.  Alternatively, if you look up the part number on the Shimano site it should show them as well.  Any particular reason you want to bearing swap the Vanford?  There isn't going to be anything of benefit to gain from it.  Shimano already uses NMB bearings from the factory which are already very high quality.  As a matter of fact, NMBs are used across their entire product line.  Daiwa also uses them.

Agreed, especially in a spinning reel. You’ll only gain less dollars in your wallet.
